HBO确认将拍摄《亢奋》“新冠特别篇”，为两季之间搭桥HBO剧集《亢奋》（Euphoria）斩获了今年的三项艾美奖，包括赞达亚（Zendaya）获得的剧情类最佳女主角，使她成为该奖项有史以来最年轻的获奖者。而艾美奖的呼声过后，第二季将是漫长的等待，这部8集第一季的剧集在2019年4月结束，似乎要到2021乃至2022年才能播出下一季。HBO总裁CaseyBloys证实，第二季计划在2021年初开拍，2021年秋季将启动第三季拍摄。导演萨姆·李文森（SamLevinson）和演员们在3月就已经准备好了拍摄第二季，但正好遇上了疫情而停滞。按目前计划，两季之间至少要停播两年。Bloys证实，为了帮助粉丝们度过两季之间的时光，HBO将推出《亢奋》新冠特别篇。HBO总裁没有透露更多细节，但赞达亚在8月份时曾透露剧组考虑用特别篇来连接两季。“我们可能最终拍摄一个桥梁剧集，”赞达亚说，“我不知道如何形容它，但是我们可以在一个安全的环境中用有限的人来演绎这一集，这样我们在进入第二季之前就有了空间。”
